DOLLIES CELEBRATE 40TH BIRTHDAY

Throughout 2012, the Triumph Dolomite Club, will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Dolomite first entering production.

Resurrecting the pre-war nomenclature, the 1972 Triumph Dolomite married a Triumph 1500 body shell and Toledo transmission with an all-new 1854cc overhead-camshaft engine.

The Dolomite sold in healthy numbers, prior to being treated to a mild facelift in 1976, when it was renamed the Dolomite 1850HL. Production ended in August 1980 with the closure of the Canley factory, with some 79,000 examples made.

According to press officer Rob Marshall: “The Triumph Dolomite Club has strived to ensure the survival of as many examples as possible and boasts both early and late examples of the original Seventies Dolomite within its ranks, including one car with barely 5,800 miles registered on its odometer.”
